Directory the dialog starts browsing from when the edit widget's value is not an absolute path (which otherwise takes precedence). lastdir is saved to the connected tstatfile by default; to prevent that, clear fdo_savelastdir in controller.options or oe1_savevalue in the widget's optionsedit1.
